Why I’m Sweating with Pride

I’m taking on Sweat with Pride this June to raise money for our rainbow communities! 💦🌈 

I am an Ally of the LGBTQIA+ Community, and as an Ally I am someone who supports equal civil rights, gender equality, and LGBTQIA+ social movements; I advocate on behalf of others; and will challenge fear and discrimination in all its forms.
Allies must be active and purposeful in supporting, promoting, and advancing real change.

Our schools, workplaces, and doctors’ offices are still not safe places for many folk and it’s putting lives at risk. Almost 3 million Australians identify as LGBTQIA+. However, despite significant progress, our communities are far from equal. Those of the LGBTQIA+ communities have the highest rates of suicidality compared with any other populations in Australia, and less than 50% of rainbow youth feel safe at school.
Things need to change.

So, this June I’m fighting discrimination with perspiration, and I've committed to exercising for at least 21 minutes EVERY DAY to raise money to support Australia's LGBTQIA+ communities.

1 in 9 Aussies are LGBTQIA+, it's time to step up and do the heavy lifting to end discrimination.  

I would really appreciate your support or contribution, however big or small, in my endeavour to raise $1000 towards health and support services for members of the Australian LGBTQIA+ community.

Don't Forget To Wear Rainbow on May 17🌈

This Saturday, May 17th, is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia.
Also known as IDAHOBIT.
And to recognise this Day, and the history behind it we wear Rainbow. 🌈

There's many ways to show your support and solidarity with those of the LGBTQIA+ community. Where I work we have established an Ally Network, where we strive to increase visibility and representation to embolden our peers to bring their whole selves to work. I am proud to be on the Steer-Co Committee and to be the Champion for our Broadmeadow and Hamilton North sites.

This year I've additionally committed to Sweat With Pride this June to help raise vital funding for our LGBTQIA+ community members which are still facing discrimination here in Australia. 
By sweating 21mins or more every day, I aim to raise $1000 towards essential health services for the community. 💰
